Samarreta Saiziland /Saiziland T-shirt

Hola a tothom,
Us presento l'última costura resultat del Sewing Camp!

Hello, everyone,
Here I am introducing the last garment sewn because of the Sewing Camp!

Some weeks before the Sewing Camp I started to browse around the blogs of the sewists that would come, some of them I had not heard about. And I found Saiziland blog. In it you can find really gorgeous children's wear, but IMO the best is the dress for "fallera" (Valencia typical custom).

I don't think I will ever sew a fallera dress, it is beyond my skills, and I don't live in Valencia, but I did love the Sewing Camp 2016 t-shirt. She has the patterns and a sew along, it looked easy and original.  I also had the perfect fabric, a very thin and drapey rayon knit, which looked as if it had been waiting for such kind of pattern.

M'ho apunto!

I cut the t-shirt and took it with me to the Sewing Camp, where I could sew it, assisted by the very Saizi!
The overlocker I used was threaded with white foam thread in the loopers, I put red thread in the needles. As you know the loopers' thread is not seen from the other side, so it was  no problem it was white.
It was definitely easier to sew with foam thread, it makes the seam extra elastic. I will for sure buy foam thread for my next bikini. Saizi recommended to use polyamid foam thread instead of polyester foam thread. Good to know!

It was also my first hem using a coverstitch machine, again with Saizi's help. The hem was fine and I liked to explore a new machine, but I will not be buying one any time soon, I believe...

By the way if you sew this shirt  I would try to hem it using a cuff, I believe it asks for it.

The sleeves and the neckline were hemmed by simply turning over and topstitching with a zig-zag.
Barbara, from Sewing on the Edge, has recently written a series of posts about knit hemming, I have been reading them and enjoying them a lot. Highly recommended!!

Here some pictures of the Saiziland shirt in real life!

Gràcies, Thank You, Gracias,  Saizi!

Jaqueta Lauki / Lauki jacket

Us el recomano!

Happy Sunday evening, everyone!

One of the bloggers I met during the Sewing Camp was Ana, from the blog    @DoneByAna.
Before meeting her in person - she is a dear - I had already found out about her blog. She has sewn everything from children underwear to dresses for a woman, jackets, handbags, and the upholstering of a motorbike seat!  It is written in Basque and Spanish.
Just the week before the Sewing Camp, Ana published her post number 100. And to celebrate it, she taught us how to sew a Lauki jacket.

You can find the tutorial to sew the Lauki here.
With Ana's permission, I have drafted a small tutorial in English.

Lauki means rectangle in basque. Now you understand the jacket's name.
You should choose stretch fabric with a drape.
I was lucky to have at home 1,5 m. of stretch suedette, with both sides almost identical. I sewed a Lauki and still had fabric left for a foulard.

As the suedette doesn't fray, there was no need to hem it.
I added doubled cuffs, 5 cms. wide, to give it a better finish.

Gràcies, Thank you, Eskerrik Asko Ana!

Sewing Camp

Hola a tothom i  bona castanyada!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
What is the dream of a sewist?
To have a whole weekend just to sew, trying lots of different types of machines,

lluny de la resta del món...
away from the whole world...

And in the company of a team of fellow sewists and bloggers...

I could meet bloggers I have been following for a long time,

 Mei

     Nekane
And I met others which I will follow from now on, like patchtemptation
I took part in the workshop to sew espadrilles organized by la "costurera entrometida"

And we had an exchange market for fabrics.

And many presents from the sponsors!
I got two patterns from Paulice Alice, which I am looking forward to trying!
There were also many discount coupons and one issue of the pattern magazine Ottobre, that I have yet to use.
Un fantàstic cap de setmana molt divertit i ple d'emocions i
Esperant el Sewing Camp 2018!!

A wonderful weekend full of fun and excitement!
